I just will never figure out how JWs think that this approach will win us back. It's so UNchristian.

You atheist really annoyed me
by confusedandalone inwhen i first came to this site.
whenever i would try to talk about somethign from the bible that the jw's got wrong or reason on a scripture that had so much feeling you would stomp all over it.
talking about "flying spaghetti gods" and laugh at what seemed to be my expense and then leave the thread never to return and add any substance.

Confused....
There are all sorts of opinions on this site; some that believe in God, some that don't and some that are in the middle. I don't believe in God at all, but I respect the ones that do. I think we all strive for that here...after having come out of a religion that constantly bashes anyone else who doesn't have their beliefs, it's imperative that we all try to respect each other's beliefs, unless of course, they are offensive or racist.

Grammy's memorial service...
by diana netherton inwell, i guess i can't be shocked but it's been a while since i've been to a jw service.
i honestly felt like i was sitting through an amway sales pitch with my grandmother's name inserted every once in a while.
it's not personal at all.

Well, I guess I can't be shocked but it's been a while since I've been to a JW service. I honestly felt like I was sitting through an Amway sales pitch with my grandmother's name inserted every once in a while. It's not personal at all. Most of the time spent was talking about their religion. But it's what my grandmother wanted, I guess. I am just sorry that no one got to stand up and relate personal stories about a wonderful woman who touched so many lives. Coming from an awkward speaker had little effect. It's shameful to do what they do. They know there's a "captive" audience and yet they just can't help themselves.
I held my wisdom wanga (a spiritual doll that grants you wisdom and strength) throughout and it calmed me down. And I had the support of my best friend in the world, Lisa; a true sister to me and my little sister.
I am glad it's finally over but I don't think I ever want to step foot in another KH ever. It is so depressing. It's like a ghastly decorated underground bunker.

How exactly did Paul keep in touch with his network of churches across the empire...
by mP inthe bible presents him as humble with limit means.
i always wondered how a man with a travelling companion of two like timothy managed to knnow or hear about all his churches.
how exactly does the troubles of corinth manage to find paul when hes over in judea or maybe somewhere in what we call turkey ?

Obviously, Facebook. Twitter was scrapped after the sisters starting gossping about everything too much, and then Paul had to call a special assembly to warn everyone of the deep, dark, dangerous evil perils of social media sites. Those who couldn't attend were linked in via Skype. :)

July 15, 2013 WT for Dummies
by Calebs Airplane in"faithful & discreet slave" nu-lite crash course.... before october 2012.... the faithful & discreet slave were all of the 12,000 annointed christians that are still alive on earth.
they dispense spiritual food at the proper time and are represented by a small group of powerless and humble men in brooklyn known as the governing body.
this may be compared to professional athletes of a particular sport who hire publicists and/or agents to represent them.. after october 2012.... the faithful & discreet slave are only 8 elite men in brooklyn, ny who collectively call themselves "the governing body".

Apparently, we are all dishonest
by diana netherton ini have been stewing on something all night and i need to vent.
my dear grammy's service is this saturday and i am playing along nicely, planning on going to the kh and being respectful and trying to be true to my grammy's legacy.
she was truly the kindest person i have known and i know she loved her religion and the people around her.. however, my sister, who has decided to return to the jw religion a few years back after being so against it, is up for the service.

I have been stewing on something all night and I need to vent. My dear Grammy's service is this Saturday and I am playing along nicely, planning on going to the KH and being respectful and trying to be true to my Grammy's legacy. She was truly the kindest person I have known and I know she loved her religion and the people around her.
However, my sister, who has decided to return to the JW religion a few years back after being so against it, is up for the service. That's fine. I respect her choice to be whatever religion she chooses, and if it makes her happy, then so be it. Who am I to say? She just can't keep her mouth shut about it, which is annoying, but that's typical. They can't help it.
Anyway, she lost her camera case and some money, credit card and a license. She left it at a lake. I called up there and left the information for them to call if it was found. I was hopeful...I said, maybe someone will find it and call. She immediately said, well, if they're a JW, then, yes, otherwise, no. I was stunned. I wasn't quite sure that I heard it correctly. The implication is that we're all dishonest. Seriously? I found a wallet not too long ago loaded with cash. I sent it back to the owner and paid the postage myself and never really told anyone. Until now. I am not sure how to handle this and I need advice.
The truth is, I know that she's up to some things that would definitely get her booted to the curb. However, I am not one that is in a position to judge anyone or tattle. But I am thinking that once this whole thing is over with my grandmother, I might send her an email saying that I am aware of exactly what she's up to, and while she may be fooling everyone else, she's not fooling me. And then end it there. I might also add that when she needs me (which she eventually will when she's busted) I'll be here, as usual.
Thoughts?? Opinions?? Thanks.
